VCU Crushes Georgetown, Takes On Purdue On Sunday

Brandon Rozell was fantastic this evening for the Virginia Commonwealth Rams, the eleventh seed in the Southwest region after defeating USC in the First Four, as he scored 26 points to lead VCU to a big victory over the Georgetown Hoyas, the sixth seed, 74-56. The game was never close and from the get-go the Rams looked like the superior team in Chicago this evening.
Who's is next on the schedule for the Rams this tournament? The third seeded Purdue Boilermakers, who blew by St. Peter's earlier today, on Sunday and the winner will advance to the Sweet Sixteen at the Alamodome (round 3 television schedule).
Spero Dedes and Bob Wenzel have the recap.

  1. Way to go VCU! Congratulations on the impressive win! I guess the Rams really do belong in the tournament after all! That means three 11-seeds defeated 6-seeds this year, and that is the third time that has happened in the Round of 64.
