Morehead State Stuns Louisville In The Biggest Upset Of Thursday's Games

Demonte Harper hit the go-ahead shot from downtown and star forward Kenneth Faried blocked a three pointer at the buzzer as the Morehead State Eagles, the 13 seed in the Southwest region, upset the 4 seeded Louisville Cardinals by a 62-61 score in Denver. The game changing moment was when Louisville big man Preston Knowles suffered an injury midway during the second half and did not return. For the second straight year, Rick Pitino's club falls in their opening game while the Eagles will take on Richmond, who pulled off the second upset in Denver, on Saturday (round 3 television schedule).
Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery have the recap.

  1. Louisville deserved to lose today! They failed to recognize the situation at the end. With a two point lead and time winding down, they should have fouled Demonte Harper before a shot was attempted. That would have resulted in a one-and-one, and the game most likely would have gone into overtime at the worst.
