NFL Week 3: Bold Predictions

Nothing I say is more prone to be incorrect than my bold predictions. Just look at last week's post. Regardless, here are my bold predictions for week 2.

Carmelo Anthony To The Nets?

Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the New Jersey Nets have moved closer to acquiring Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in a trade that also includes the Jazz and the Bobcats. The deal is based upon Anthony's willingness to sign a $65 million contract extension with New Jersey.
The Nuggets receive the No. 3 pick from this year's draft Derrick Favors, Utah's Andrei Kirilenko and his expiring contract, Nets guard Quinton Ross,  the Nets' first round pick from 2011 and the 2012 pick that the Nets own from Golden State that would have some sort of lottery protection. The Bobcats would receive Nets guard Devin Harris and the Jazz would receive Bobcats forward Boris Diaw
The Nuggets could receive worse packages than the one they are getting in this Anthony trade. Kirilenko is still a good player and still a really good defender with great athleticism and he comes with an expiring contract. And first round picks never hurt.
Devin Harris is still a really good guard that scores points in bunches (averaged almost 17 points per game last season) and would be a major upgrade over D.J. Augustin (who the Nets want to help offset the loss of Harris but Charlotte does not want to get rid of him. Don't worry this is not a deal breaker).
Diaw would be a good fit in Jerry's Sloan flex offense plus would lessen the Jazz's cap number greatly and is a solid replacement for Kirilenko. Plus, with all the money that Charlotte is investing in Tyrus Thomas, Diaw is certainly expendable.
But the key here, obviously, is Anthony and whether he wants to be a Net. He wants to leave Denver due to the instability with a new general manager, George Karl's health issues, and a lot of players (Kenyon Martin, J.R. Smith, Aaron Afflalo and possibly Nene and Chauncey Billups). Yes the Nets are coming off a 12 win season and have a new owner, GM, and head coach. But the Russian Mikhail Prokhorov has pockets the size of New Mexico and an new coach in Avery Johnson that has had a lot of success in the league plus is loved by his players. And let's not forget where the Nets are moving in a few years
Prokhorov is craving an elite player to lead the Nets after missing out on LeBron James. Travis Outlaw is not the solution; Carmelo Anthony is.
The Nets have to make this trade work and seem willing to do so. But does Anthony want to sign there?
